MOOC – Resilience thinking for sustainable global development

A Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web. GRAID is in the process of developing a new and innovative Massive Open Online Course on how resilience thinking can contribute to sustainable global development in the context of the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs).

By taking this course, which aims to launch in the first half of 2018, participants will have an understanding of:

1) What is social-ecological resilience?

2) Why is social-ecological resilience thinking a valuable lens for addressing global development challenges?

3) An integrated perspective on global sustainability that connects the different SDGs

Course participants, from the development community, academia, policy, practice, business, and the environmental sector, will learn about complexity’s power as a way to think about entrenched challenges and respond to shocks and stresses. Participants will learn about how the local affects the global, and how the global impacts the local in unexpected ways. This Massive Open Online course will integrate theory and practice, and offer many opportunities for interaction, learning and creativity.

Course Outline:

Module 1: Setting the scene
